BEAVER: Solutions Through Systems Engineering
Warehouse racking and industrial shelving
UPS

UPS got to be the world's largest package delivery company one parcel at a time. Their operation specializes in huge numbers of small orders. Beaver's warehouse fit the company's needs perfectly: a system for non-palletized cartons.

The system features 26-foot-high frames with 13 beam/shelf levels. Each beam level is fitted with waterfall-style wire-mesh decks. These create a shelf membrane ideal for storing even the smallest cartons.

Structural steel aisle guides and full-width structural steel entry guides protect the frames. These features also help guide the warehouse operator into the aisles. The system also features a custom coloured racking and beam location labeling system. It works, and it looks great.

General Auto Parts

When General Auto Parts began their first physical move in 17 years, they turned to Beaver for complete project management and guaranteed results.

The new facility is divided into four distinct areas, each one engineered to maximize picking efficiency and reduce forklift travel.

Small cartons are stored on boltless metal pan shelving, custom installed in heights of nine or 13 shelves per unit profile, based on the size of the cartons themselves. More efficient use of space means bottom line savings in labour and facilities.

The other two racking areas are for storage of heavy items: pallet racking for palletized items, and racking with wiremesh deck shelves for easy caselot and broken-pallet storage and picking.

The Beer Store

Brewers Retail (The Beer Store) in London, Ontario, turned to Beaver Materials Handling for a total re-design of their warehouse logistics.

The Beaver solution eliminated traditional block-stacked skids in favour of selective racking. This makes for far more efficient use of space. More importantly, it made dealing with broken-case orders much easier.

Beaver installed APR Racking, equipping the lower beam levels with waterfall mesh desks, which are used for caselot and broken-pallet orders. This allows the upper beam levels to be used for full-pallet-load orders. Staff spend less time handling product, which means bottom line results.

The Safety bars, post protectors, and beam identification labeling system Beaver developed all further enhance the system's efficiency. And the entire installation was produced in Brewers Retail's corporate colours, orange and black.
